OUR CONNECTION TO THE COMMUNITY The Nurturing Nest is closely connected to its surrounding communities and helps to plan for children's transition to Kindergarten and training programs for staff. Our staff and program collaborates with other child care centers on participating in in-service training. We keep parents informed of interesting activities available to families, such as the annual Fire Station Open House. We participate in the annual local Air show Parade. Be sure to check the bulletin boards and your child's cubbies for information on these events. We also advocate for quality childcare by informing the community of how to find and indicators of quality childcare and preschool. We developed a brochure of information on indicators s of quality care and a checklist of what to look for. We distribute them to area businesses and distribute them to prospective parents. Parents and staff are encouraged to attend local governance meetings to keep up to date on community happenings which may affect The Nurturing Nest and/or children. Also located in the PARENT INFORMATION BOARD IN THE HALLWAY OF THE INFANT AND TODDLER BUILDING is a resource guide to all the area support services, including information on how to contact local Health Departments, Help lines and Hotlines, The centers, Counseling, ESL Classes, Adoption Services Transportation and other community, Advocacy and Government Organizations.
