The Nurturing Nest admits children and families presently or previously of any physical ability, race, creed, family status, ability to pay, or national origin.
Every effort will be made to meet a child's needs. If both parents and staff come to the mutual agreement that the center is unable to meet the needs of the child, only then will the child be disenrolled. There is a period of "provisional enrollment," of 30 days, during which time parents, staff and children are able to assess whether the center will satisfy the needs of all concerned. Every effort will be made to recruit teachers and provide frequent contact and interactions with teachers who speak your child's home language.
The Nurturing Nest offers child care for children age 6 weeks through kindergarten.
The steps for enrolling are:
1. Contact us or stop by for a tour.
2. Parents complete an enrollment form including enrollment/health information.
3. A date shall be decided as to when the child will begin attending The Nurturing Nest. A waiting list for enrollment may apply
4. There is a registration fee (listed on Tuition page) due the first day the child attends The Nurturing Nest.
5. A visitation time is provided as follows: The child visits at least on hour with the parent, one hour without the parent, and four hours without the parent.
Withdrawal or Termination of a Child
The Nurturing Nest has the right to permanently disenroll a child for non-payment of tuition or co-pays.
If for any reason, the child needs to be withdrawn; The Nurturing Nest must have written notification. The notification must be two weeks before termination. Parent is responsible for two weeks of payment from the time notice is given if two weeks notice is not provided.
If an enrolled child does not attend The Nurturing Nest for two consecutive weeks without notice, his or her enrollment will be terminated. If for any reason we are no longer able to care for a child, we will advise the parents so that other arrangements can be made.
Transitions
Transition from classroom to classroom
The Nurturing Nest will make every effort to prepare and ease a child's transition into a new program or classroom. A written visitation schedule will be provided, and a conference between the parents and teacher is provided. Typical visitation into a new classroom is as follows: three half days, then two full days. The parent may call during the day to check in on how their child is adapting. Plan of Transition for One program to the Next: For children entering Kindergarten in the fall: In the spring, typically March, we notify parents when enrollment for the following school year begins. We also inform parents of important dates and Kindergarten screening. We keep parents updated on Kindergarten requirements and expectations by using the Early Learning Content Standards. We relay this information in daily conversations and through conferences twice a year. During the summer the local school system holds a week-long 'Passport to Safety' program for children entering Kindergarten at each elementary. We notify parents of the dates and provide to and from the program.
For outside the program: We will talk with the child about the upcoming transitions. We will read books applicable to the situation. We will also have the children in the groups put together a 'memory book' for the child who is leaving. We will also send letters with photograph's back and forth with the family.
Reinstatement of a Child
A child may be reinstated, with the Administrator's approval, to the program. All outstanding balances must be paid. If there is a waiting list, the child's name will be added to the waiting list.
